The Rhythm Academy’s ‘Mastering DAW’ course introduces you to making music with Logic Pro X. The course is taught by producer Toni Kurkimäki. The course will focus on Logic Pro X, one of the most widely used music production software, available for Apple computers. With Logic you can create and record any kind of music, process audio files, and mix and master audio. The course is for beginners, and no previous experience with the software is required. The topics covered include interface functions, recording an instrument, using Logic’s internal effects, mixer and instruments, building a track in Logic, and turning a finished track into an audio file. The software used is Logic Pro X designed for Apple computers. Students should have a basic understanding of how a computer works before starting the course.
COURSE DELIVERY
The course is free of charge in the pilot phase, and is primarily aimed at people living in Southern Ostrobothnia. As this course is a part of a project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), participants are required to fill in monitoring information and feedback forms related to ESF projects. The course consists of pre-recorded video material, two online meetings and one assignment. Please refer to the ‘Schedule’ box for the dates of the joint online sessions and their contents.
ASSIGNMENT
For the assignment, the students are required to create a short track (4 bars minimum) with Logic Pro X. During the joint meetings, the group will listen to each track and the instructor will give feedback and suggestions for improvement.

INSTRUCTOR TONI KURKIMÄKI
Toni ‘DJ Tony’ Kurkimäki is an expert in electronic music, having been a DJ for 30 years. He started making music in the early 1990s with a sampler and an Amiga computer. His most renowned project is Syna, which has gained international fame in the Electronic music circles. Kurkimäki also works as a radio journalist.
